Andrew Higgs

Andrew Higgs is the Manager of the Brisbane-based Business Advisory Services team at Trade and Investment Queensland (TIQ). 

With over 18 years of experience in the private sector, Andrew has led sales teams for many iconic brands in the pharmaceutical, healthcare, tourism, and FMCG industries. He holds both an MBA and a Bachelor of Health Science. 

Andrew's career includes roles as Country Manager for a food technology start-up in Singapore, Business Development Manager for a Management Institute in London, and Executive for a state Chamber of Commerce. 

He is passionate about helping Queensland businesses go global, having supported numerous companies in their international expansions and led trade missions into new markets. 

Andrew Tran 

Andrew Tran is the Principal Trade and Investment Officer based in Brisbane. Andrew’s professional background spans a broad mix of marketing, strategy, management, cross-cultural brand development and digital transformation. 

His ethos of commercial success is predicated through collaboration with organisations towards developing the right fit in their customer-centricity approach. 

Andrew has deep cross-cultural understanding, having spent time living and travelling across Asia including China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Singapore and Taiwan.

Nio Halangahu 

Nio Halangahu is a Senior Trade and Investment Officer based in the Brisbane office

Nio is a seasoned professional with a robust background in commercial operations, supply chain management and international trade. 

He is passionate about Queensland businesses and the role they play in their communities. He is eager to leverage his expertise in trade and investment to contribute to Queensland’s economic prosperity. 

Nio has a special interest in the Food and Agribusiness industry. As part of the Business Advisory Services team at TIQ, Nio supports Queensland businesses across all industries and sectors as they connect with the world.

Shelley Hodge 

Shelley Hodge is a Senior Trade and Investment Officer with a broad background spanning travel, beauty, banking, finance, and health industries. 

She brings valuable experience in business development and is dedicated to assisting Queensland businesses in expanding globally. 

Shelley has lived in Central Queensland, Brisbane, and Townsville, which has provided her with a diverse perspective on regional economies and business environments. Shelley has a keen interest in the circular economy, sustainability, and the health and wellness sectors. 

Daniel Chater 

Daniel Chater is the Senior Trade and Investment Officer based in Brisbane

Daniel’s professional background in stakeholder engagement is drawn from his experiences in government roles at TIQ, Queensland Rail, and Griffith University - as well as the banking and Not-for-profit sectors 

Daniel brings a wealth of international experience having worked in Canada and England. He also has experience as the Senior Human Resources Business Partner – International at TIQ 

Having grown up in Central Queensland, Daniel is passionate about empowering regional communities through export and connecting them to the world.

Simon Couch 

Simon Couch has extensive experience in marketing, events, and enhancing a business’s digital presence. 

He has worked across various industry sectors, supporting businesses with their marketing strategies, social media presence, and online optimisation and increasing web presence. 

Simon is passionate about supporting Queensland companies on their growth journey. 

He enjoys seeing businesses flourish as a result of effective marketing strategies and innovative digital solutions. Simon particularly values the collaborative process of tailoring eCommerce and marketing approaches to align with each business's unique goals.

Jamie Healey

Jamie Healey is the Principal Business Engagement Officer, First Nations based in Brisbane. 

Jamie supports First Nations Businesses build capability and capacity to export. 

Prior to joining our team, Jamie contributed over six years of service at Austrade, where he held various roles, including Project Officer and Investment Adviser. 

Jamie has built a distinguished career in government, with a strong focus on advancing First Nations cultural capability across departments and teams. His commitment to fostering understanding and integration of Indigenous perspectives has been central to his professional journey. 

Shelly Lewis

Shelly Lewis is Principal Trade and Investment Officer based in Brisbane.  

Shelly's professional background spans marketing, stakeholder engagement and scaleup support, helping new and established SMEs achieve their commercial objectives. 

Shelly has strong cross-cultural capabilities and a global network of contacts, having lived and worked in Korea, Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong, prior to returning to Australia.   

In her role at TIQ, Shelly supports a wide range of industry sectors. She is particularly interested in disruptive technologies across infrastructure, clean energy, sustainability and the circular economy. 

Joy Tang

Joy has more than 20 years of experience in export sales and marketing. 

She has worked in various industries including red meat and horticulture and has held senior export and marketing positions in peak industry bodies, industry associations, and in government. 

Before joining TIQ, Joy worked for Avocados Australia in export and also Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) as China Country Manager for eight years. 

She is proud of having helped the Australia red meat industry’s export to China grow more than threefold during her time at MLA. Joy also helped many companies in developing their export markets, market diversification and expansion while working for Austrade for nine years. 

Joy has extensive and practical knowledge of every aspect of the export supply chain, from market access and logistics to developing export strategy, as well as in market promotions and expansion. She is passionate about helping Queensland businesses to go global using her knowledge and experience. 

Young-Mi Kim

Young-Mi has extensive experience in international trade and has directly assisted many small and medium enterprises (SMEs) through all stages of their export journey. 

She can provide practical advice on current market opportunities, developing export strategies, navigating market access regulations, freight services, and government financial assistance programs. 

Young-Mi has worked across a diverse range of sectors, including innovative technologies, food and agribusiness, resources and energy, infrastructure and construction, and health. 

She has extensive professional networks across government agencies, corporations, industry peak bodies, as well as international investors and buyers. 

Previously, Young-Mi was Acting Business Manager of North Asia in Trade and Investment Queensland, covering the Japan and Korea markets, and was Business Development Manager of Trade and Investment Queensland’s Korea office. 

She has also worked for the economic section at the Australian Embassy in the Republic of Korea for seven years before she moved to Sydney, completing a Masters in Education at the University of Sydney.
