Queensland's exporters take to the sky

3 February 2023

There’s a real taste of Queensland on board the state’s newest airline.

Bonza, the low-cost carrier servicing regional Queensland, is taking the state’s most creative and tasty food and beverage businesses to the skies.

Bonza passengers will enjoy a variety of snacks and drinks – some of which are TIQ clients.

The Happy Snack Company, who have been working with TIQ for over 7 years and received an eCommerce grant in 2020 for expansion into the USA, which led to export success in a competitive market.

Bonza travelers can grab bottled Nu-Pure water as they gaze out of their window at Queensland's tropical paradise below.

Nu-Pure from Beenleigh attended TIQ’s Taste of Queensland Showcase, where they met over 70 international buyers and have achieved export success in China.

If passengers fancy something a bit stronger as they begin to unwind above the clouds, they can order a glass of Queensland’s distinctive Sirromet Wines.

TIQ has worked with Sirromet Wines since 2015 with many export opportunities explored.

Sirromet Wines will bottle their red, white, sparkling and rose wines for the Bonza flights into plastic bottles that are lightweight and fully recyclable.

Those who are craving something to nibble on can try Silver Tongue Food’s crackers.

The Silver Tongue Food product range was highlighted to international buyers at TIQ’s Taste of Queensland Sunshine Coast Showcase where the company is headquartered.

Sunshine & Sons range of sprits is also on the Bonza drinks list – a Woombye company that joined in TIQ’s Taste of Queensland Sunshine Coast event in late 2022.

Bonza said their menu deliberately features products made by local businesses.

“Our team have established a positive and productive relationship with the producers on our menu – many of which are creating bespoke packaging solutions that will help our efforts to reduce waste and weight onboard, which in turn helps reduce fuel consumption and keep flight prices low,” said Carly Povey, the Chief Commercial Officer at Bonza.

As Queensland’s newest airline takes off, Bonza is certainly making a jumbo effort to showcase some of this state’s most innovative food and drink producers.
