Brisbane education provider is top of the class

NIET Group has experienced many benefits from winning the ‘International Training and Education’ category at the Premier of Queensland’s Export Awards

With four colleges, across five campuses, in two states and more than 35,000 students, NIET Group is used to helping people realise their potential and achieve their goals.

So, it was only fitting that the company’s own achievements were celebrated at the Premier of Queensland’s Export Awards 2021 when it scooped the ‘International Training and Education’ category.

NIET Group is a collective of vocational colleges – National Institute of Education and Technology, Macleay College, Charlton Brown, Rhodes Business School – providing high-quality and affordable education to a mainly international audience.

The Group offers more than 50 high-demand programmes and in excess of 250 packages and pathways to universities. Its portfolio of qualifications covers high-demand industry needs, ensuring its graduates have the skills and training that employers need.

International success

The Premier of Queensland’s Export Awards win was in recognition of NIET Group’s success in international markets, with the company primarily servicing China, Latin America, South East Asia and the Indian Subcontinent, with a growing presence in the Japanese and Korean markets.

Director Troy Yue believes the accolade has provided important validation for the business and is helping it to continue growing in key international markets.

‘Being recognised at the Premier of Queensland’s Export Awards has encouraged us to keep doing what we are doing,’ he said.

‘Since winning it, we have had great recognition from industry partners and it has increased positive exposure for our business.

‘It also gives us even more confidence when speaking to potential new partners because it serves as powerful evidence that what we do is best in class and works.’

NIET Group responded to the challenges posed to its sector by the COVID-19 pandemic through pivoting to the onshore student market while also enhancing its online offering for international students.

Good for morale

Winning the award has delivered other benefits to the business too, he added.

‘Internally, it’s been great for our staff because it recognises their efforts and achievements so has further enhanced morale across our organisation.

‘The application process was straightforward and I would certainly encourage other Queensland businesses to get involved and apply.’
