Queensland innovation the coolest

Seeking a quicker way to provide a first-class pool to builders has lead to international success for Brisbane manufacturer Plungie.

Plungie is a world-first, innovative solution that represents the future of swimming pool construction, combining award-winning design with world-class technology.

The pre-fabricated concrete pools are manufactured in a precision, factory-controlled environment and can be installed by any qualified builder, reducing costs and eliminating the need for additional specialist trades.

Plungie swimming pools are available in four designs: Arena 3.5m round, Studio 3.6m x 2.2m, Original 4.6m x 2.5m and Max 6m x 3m.

With Plungie’s patented, smart design it’s no wonder over 2000 builders have installed Plungies worldwide.

And they’re not the only ones taking the plunge.

Making a splash the aim from the start

Plungie was established in 2018 to disrupt the traditional pool industry and has experienced rapid domestic and international growth.

The company exports from its Brisbane factory and has evolved to a more scalable business model, exporting Intellectual Property, engineering, advanced manufacturing methods, business model, sales strategy and marketing knowledge.

This allowed Plungie to establish company-managed manufacturing operations internationally mid-pandemic. This scalable model is key to the company's global domination.

Plungie's innovation, advanced design, engineering and manufacturing processes were recognised as Best in Class in the Product Design category at the 2019 Australian Good Design Awards.

In 2021-2022, Plungie became the largest manufacturer and supplier of precast concrete pools in North America.

They also won the Emerging Exporter award in the Premier of Queensland’s Export Awards in 2022.

Not bad from a start in 2018.

Award an acknowledgment dedicated team

Plungie CEO Cameron Levick said the win acknowledged the huge impact Plungie had on the swimming pool industry since its launch.

Based in Australia, as the largest manufacturer nationally, Plungie has also exported pools direct to New Zealand. Having already established themselves in the USA, Plungie plans to expand into Canada and Europe in the coming years and is on track to become the largest concrete pool manufacturer in the world.

“We were thrilled to be nominated but to take out the category is such an acknowledgement of the team’s mission to bring the Australian dream to the world – to have a pool in your backyard,” Mr Levick said.

Plungie currently manufactures its industry-leading precast concrete pools in Queensland and Victoria for Australia-wide delivery and has opened a US facility in Dallas, Texas for the US market.

Plungie has evolved through smart, patented design and advanced manufacturing processes to now produce second-generation pools.

Plungie worked closely with Trade and Investment Queensland (TIQ) to gain greater insight into export and investment opportunities. This relationship with TIQ played an important role in improving the company's export activities.
