Meet Donna Massie

Queensland Trade and Investment Commissioner – Middle East and Africa

Commissioner Massie commenced her current role with the Queensland Government in September 2013 and has lived and worked in the Middle East since 1991, allowing her to gain a deep understanding of Middle Eastern culture and business practices.

Prior to joining Trade and Investment Queensland, Commissioner Massie was Vice Chair of the Western Australian chapter of the Australian Arab Chamber of Commerce and Industry and was also their representative in the Gulf Cooperation Council between 2009–2013.  She has previously held senior roles with GHD, Clough Engineering, AECOM, and was a board member of the Australian Business Group Abu Dhabi.

Throughout her career, Commissioner Massie has worked in and with many different sectors including oil and gas, construction, engineering, agribusiness, finance, water, environment and defence, providing her with a broad knowledge base and extensive strategic relationships in both Australia and the Middle East.

Commissioner Massie promotes trade and bilateral investment, assisting Queensland companies to access commercial opportunities in the Middle Eastern market, as well as Middle Eastern companies looking to access Queensland products and services.  A significant aspect of the Commissioners role includes government-to-government relations and stimulating foreign direct investment into Queensland.
