Research and Innovation Business Mission: Expression of interest

Trade and Investment Queensland (TIQ) is seeking expressions of interest (EOI) from Queensland based research institutions and organisations to participate in a business mission to Taiwan and Japan from Sunday 13 to Friday 18 July 2025.

A highlight of this mission is the opportunity to attend World Expo 2025 Osaka (Expo 2025).

Queensland is a gold partner of the Australia Pavilion at Expo 2025.

Running from April to October, there are over 150 nations participating with 28 million visitors anticipated.

The Expo 2025 theme is Designing Future Society for our Lives and there are eight theme weeks throughout the six months of Expo 2025.

This business mission is timed to coincide with the Learning and Playing month theme week (17-28 July) with a focus on International Education and Research Collaboration at the Australian Pavilion.  It includes activities in Taiwan and Tokyo before moving to Osaka and visiting Expo 2025.

Why participate

This mission will provide an opportunity to showcase the quality of Queensland’s research and innovation capabilities, consolidate existing relationships, and develop new business opportunities.

The mission includes unrivalled access to major research agencies, site visits to innovation hubs and large corporates, and opportunities to network and meet with potential collaborators and investors. It also includes non-programmed time to view Expo or hold individual meetings.

Participation in the Research and Innovation Business Mission to Taiwan and Japan presents a remarkable opportunity to:

  • Promote your organisation on a global stage through participating in showcase events and taking advantage of the Expo 2025 Osaka global village.

  • Network with key stakeholders and potential research funders and partners to develop new business opportunities through curated events and a tailored itinerary.

  • Profile your organisation and discuss potential areas for collaboration in roundtable discussions.

  • Gain first-hand knowledge of the research and innovation landscape in North Asia.
