Leading culinarians from two of the world’s most famous cities have gathered to enjoy the great taste of Queensland beef as part of the Aussie Beef Mates program of events.

More than 300 guests from Bishopsgate to Brooklyn experienced a true taste of Queensland with unique versions of the traditional sausage sizzle and steak sandwich.

A strategic partnership between TIQ and MLA, the Aussie Beef Mates initiative is designed to shine an international spotlight on Queensland beef, giving farmers and producers greater access to established and emerging global markets.

The tasting showcases in London and New York followed an Aussie Beef Mates delegation of 25 internationally acclaimed chefs and food professionals that toured Queensland’s beef supply chain in October last year.

The events not only highlighted the quality of Queensland beef, they also provided an opportunity for the Aussie Beef Mates ambassadors to share their knowledge and insights from their tour of the state through unique dining experiences in their home cities.

Trade and Investment Queensland CEO Justin McGowan said Queensland farmers and beef producers had forged a global reputation for quality, with product regularly consumed in more than 60 countries around the world.

“As Queensland’s largest agricultural export, beef not only plays a pivotal role in our economy, it is also central to sustaining communities from the Atherton Tablelands, through to Charters Towers and right across the Southeast,” he said.

“Whether it is in rapidly growing markets like the US, or new opportunities arising in the UK via the Free Trade Agreement, these proud Queensland businesses are working tirelessly to serve these global markets, who clearly have an appetite for our world-class beef.

“TIQ is proud to work in partnership with MLA to ensure our tireless exporters continue to unlock greater access to established and emerging international markets through initiatives like this.

“These events present a tremendous opportunity to showcase Queensland beef in some of the world’s finest cities, supporting the continued growth in profile of one of our State’s leading export industries.”

MLA General Manager, International Markets, Andrew Cox said MLA was proud to work in partnership with TIQ to grow the presence of Australian beef in international markets.

“These showcase events in London and New York have built on the momentum of a series of Aussie Beef Mates and Lambassador delegations in Australia in 2023, which brought food professionals from all across the globe to learn more about our product and inspire them to spread the message back to their home countries,” he said.
