Recent trade missions
China International Import Expo
In November 2023, TIQ was part of Queensland’s largest ever trade mission to our largest two-way trading partner, China. The China International International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai was the centrepiece of this history-making visit, led by the Premier of Queensland and involving over 100 Queensland business delegates.
The best of Queensland produce was showcased at The Queensland Pavilion and through Aussie Beef Mates events.
It’s estimated that over 400,000 people attended CIIE in 2023, with the event set to return in 2024.
Types of trade missions
Outbound
Outbound trade missions help Queensland businesses to establish contacts in targeted markets.
Joining one of our trade missions gives you market insights, support and contacts that you could never access on your own. Delegates regularly secure major export deals as a direct result of joining a mission.
Trade and Investment Queensland provides pre-mission preparation, including market briefings. Our trade specialists, often led by Queensland Government ministers, accompany the missions to provide support during the mission and to help follow up on export opportunities.
Trade and Investment Queensland advisors also arrange in-market meetings with potential customers and partners to make the most of outbound missions.
Inbound
Queensland regularly hosts inbound trade missions, which provide an easy, cost-effective way for local businesses to meet overseas representatives from business and government.
Inbound trade missions range from a small number of overseas companies to large multidisciplinary delegations.
Trade and Investment Queensland frequently arranges meetings and showcases that connect Queensland businesses with these overseas visitors.
