The following services, grants and assistance are available to Queensland SMEs to grow exports and attract investment.

The Business Growth Fund is a grant program which provides targeted assistance for small and medium businesses that demonstrate high-growth and employment aspirations to enable them to purchase specialised equipment or services to help them seize a growth opportunity.

Since commencement in 2016, the IET Partnership Fund has supported 73 projects across Queensland’s international education and training sector. The IET Partnership Fund is not currently open for applications.

The Study Queensland Regional Funding Framework (SQRFF) is an annual grant program designed to provide financial support to the geographical footprint of each recognised study cluster in Queensland and supports the commitment of study clusters to work with local stakeholders to advance the international education and training sector in the regions.

The SQRFF aims to foster a partnership between Study Queensland and recognised study clusters that is focused on:

  • International market development and diversification
  • Student experience, development and support
  • Industry development and engagement

The Jobs and Regional Growth Fund helps facilitate private sector projects which create employment and economic growth opportunities in regional areas outside South East Queensland facing significant economic and employment challenges. Financial assistance ranging from $100,000 to over $10 million is available for proponents to apply directly.

Advance Queensland has funding of $650 million to support programs that drive innovation, build on our natural advantages, and help raise Queensland’s profile as an attractive investment destination.

12 Queensland regions have access to a dedicated fund of $500,000 each over 3 years, with activities including mentoring and capability development, and innovation spaces to coordinate local efforts and connect entrepreneurs with each other and with industry. Learn more at Advance Queensland.

Queensland businesses at the forefront of commercialising cutting edge research or innovative ideas, products or services have the opportunity to access $40 million of investment to help unlock their innovative potential, with available funding of between $125,000 and $2.5 million for individual businesses. Mentoring for Growth (M4G) offers eligible businesses access to volunteer business experts who provide insights, options and suggestions relating to business challenges and opportunities. Learn more at Business Queensland.

Australia Government grants and programs 

AusIndustry is the Australian Government’s principal agency for delivering assistance, programs and services which support industry, research and innovation. Its national network of regional managers provide advice and assistance to businesses across regional Australia and link businesses to relevant assistance programs, working with industry experts to provide face-to-face advice tailored to the profile and needs of each business.

Austrade’s Export Market Development Grants provide exporters who want to increase their international sales with reimbursements of up to 50% of promotional expenses. Promotional expenses must be over $15,000 and a maximum of $150,000.

Australian government’s business portal lists a range of grants, assistance, advisory services and training to help you find the right support for your business activities.

Export Finance Australia is the Australian Government’s export credit agency, providing export finance solutions to help you take advantage of international opportunities.
