Queensland’s Lime Caviar Company crosses all borders

From the rainforests of Queensland’s Scenic Rim, The Lime Caviar Company finds demand for their world class product crossing international borders.

With the support of Trade and Investment Queensland, the premier grower of fresh finger limes exports the delicate rainforest fruit overseas, rapidly growing its popularity in offshore markets.

Beneath the skin of the finger lime lay hundreds of juice-filled pearls, known as vesicles, with a variety of tastes and colours across several varieties.

The innovative method of removing the pearls, packaged to suit an exportable product, was refined by the family run business using its own modern processing facility.

Completely natural, the taste, texture and structure of the pearls are creatively incorporated into recipes in fine dining restaurants, cocktail bars, resorts, and catering companies.

The family-owned farm and modern processing facility has won several awards including most recently, Scenic Rim, Business of The Year, and The Scenic Rim Agriculture Award 2021.

The product was included in Trade and Investment Queensland’s Taste of Queensland (TOQ) initiative, who funded the cost of sending samples to Singapore, Hong Kong, and Taiwan as part of COVID recovery support to exporters.

Each market achieved successful export deals, most recently Taiwan, after a full 12 months of ongoing support and follow up by Trade and Investment Queensland.

“TIQ's skilled and friendly officers have provided The Lime Caviar Company with ongoing help in the finding and expansion of export markets for its exclusive finger lime caviar product, being pearls extracted from Australia's unique native citrus - the finger lime,” The Lime Caviar Company owner Ian Douglas said.

“The recent export of finger lime caviar to P&P Foods in Taiwan, and a buyers function jointly conducted by Austrade and TIQ at the Australian Embassy in Berlin, are two examples of TIQ's fine work.”

Today Queensland’s Lime Caviar Company exports to more than 15 countries including Japan, China, USA, Taiwan, South Korea, New Zealand and Singapore.
